Couple: Rebecca + Harry

Venue: Mar Hall

Date: 22nd September 2019

Mar Hall is a really special venue, and we’re lucky enough to have photographed here many times over the years. Paired with a very special couple, in Rebecca and Harry, we were set for a very er, wonderful day! :)

We arrived bright and early in the morning to photograph the morning’s preparations, as all the girls rushed around getting makeup and hair done. The rooms in Mar Hall are really excellent in the morning, with big windows letting in loads of natural light, and the opulent surroundings working really well in our pictures. When we saw the magnificent four poster bed in the master bedroom we couldn’t help but set the dress up for a wee shot on it too – perfect!

Soon enough though, it was time for the main event, and what a lovely ceremony it was. Rebecca and Harry had decided to have a humanist conduct their marriage blessings, which we always find provides just the right blend of warmth, humour and love that the occasion demands.

After the ceremony was finished, the newlyweds headed outside to the garden with all their guests for some drinks and some lovely canapés. Yes that’s right, we had a rare break in the rain just at the right moment for some outside time, a real rarity at this time of year! Of course, we couldn’t not take advantage of this stunning development, so after everyone had had some time to relax and enjoy the weather we nipped off with the happy couple to grab some shots with just the two of them.

Mar Hall really is one of those venues where everywhere you point your camera there’s something great to make into a picture and with of subjects like Harry and Rebecca to work with, we are able to get loads of amazing pictures for them in just a few minutes time.

This was fortuitous, as it was soon time for everyone to head inside for the wedding breakfast, and of course the speeches! Having the speeches before, or after the meal is a debate as old as the hills themselves, but Rebecca and harry had thought of a clever solution –  have half before and half after! Why didn’t we think of that!?

Once the plates were all cleared away and the happy couple had given their joint speech, it was time for the party to really start! Ceilidhs are always a good shout for the evening’s entertainment, we reckon, as it gets everyone involved from the offing, and leads to a very busy dancefloor, which is surely the aim! This one was no different, we had to keep a constant eye out as the moving throngs of guests danced round us and sometimes nearly right through us!
