Couple: Karen + Scott

Date:  8th June 2018

One of the best parts of our job is getting to return to photograph the weddings of our previous couple’s friends and family, when it’s their turn to tie the knot!

It’s great to know so many people at a wedding, and it really makes for a relaxed day with lots of lovely pictures. So, we were super chuffed to be invited along to photograph the nuptials of Karen & Scott, as we’d previously shot both Scott’s brother David’s wedding in 2015, and Karen’s brother Andy’s big day earlier on in the year. You can check out their pictures and mini-movies here and here!

But back to the day at hand, because it was absolutely fantastic! We were down in the rolling hills of Ayrshire for the day, at the Lochside Hotel in New Cumnock. It’s a really lovely venue for a wedding, with lots of nice garden space around the grounds, and great views of all the surrounding countryside. The weather was amazing, as seems to be the norm these days, and after a lovely ceremony with a hand fasting we got everyone outside for some group pictures on the lawns.

One of our favourite things about this time of year, when the days are so long, is to be able to do the couples shoot in the evening, so we decided to do that for Scott and Karen. After the wedding breakfast and speeches (featuring a VERY funny best man’s speech by the three best men!) we snuck out with the newly-weds for some romantic shots. The grounds were looking really good in the low light of the evening, and we couldn’t resist taking them up to a great wee spot we’d found, up by the lodges, to get a shot that really did the scenery justice!

We don’t like to keep our couples for too long taking pictures, so we always try to have things planned out in advance, that way we only need to borrow them for the minimum amount of time and not get in the way of the day’s proceedings. So, true to form, it was soon time to get Karen and Scott back inside, where their evening guests were waiting to see them cut the cake and have their first dance as a married couple. After that it was on to the party, and what a party it was! This crowd were definitely up for a good dance and we got loads of excellent shots to prove it!

So all that remains is for you to have a look at this smashing mini-movie, and for us to say a great big thank you to Scott and Karen for having us along to their wedding!
