Couple: Vicki & Dale

Date:  4th September 2021

Ah, the last of the summer weddings! And what better place to have it than the fantastic Harelaw farm, with the lovely Vicki and Dale!

It’s not been the warmest of summers, truth be told, so we were really happy to have one last decent day before the colder weather sets in for the 8-month winter that is typical here in Scotland :)

We arrived bright and early, and after all the necessary checks that are usual at the moment, we were across to see the girls getting ready in the farmhouse. The bridal suite at Harelaw really is excellent, and must feel like a proper homestay in a farmhouse for the couple. The girl’s team were all present, and were busily getting ready for the day ahead, helped along by a couple of cheeky wee glasses of prosecco no doubt!

The ceremony room at the farm is an old barn and we absolutely love it, it’s so amazing to photograph in! Apart from the rough stone walls and charming old drinking troughs, there’s a glass door right down at the end next to the couple, providing some great natural light which can be a bit of a rarity for ceremonies! Vicki and Dales ceremony was just the ticket, with readings from fiends and plenty of humour throughout you really got a sense of the story of their relationship thus far.

Afterwards, it was time to head out to the back garden, for some well-earned drinks and nibbles and to take in the late summer sun. Vick and Dale had laid on some top-notch entertainment for their guests, with a saxophonist and the ever-awesome oyster man on hand to entertain the crowd! Of course, we managed to sneak away with the newlyweds during this time to grab a few shots around the farm, it’d be rude not too! Vicki and Dale were absolute superstars on the shoot, you’d honestly think that they do this every day!

Of course, by this point everyone was getting a little hungry, but before dinner there was the small matter of some speeches first. All the speakers were fantastic, with the 4 best men each giving a mini-speech which was great to see. It’s been really great to have bands back at weddings too, we’ve really missed the proper party at the end of the day, and we definitely loved to capture all the shenanigans that occurred once the lights went down. Well, it seems the crowd at this wedding definitely agreed with us on this one, seriously, have a look at the absolute madness towards the end of the highlights film, now that’s what we like to see!
