Couple: Katrine + Daniel

Date:  2nd August 2019

We love a Glasgow City Centre wedding, so when Katrine and Daniel told us about their plans to hold their reception in the National Piping Centre we were really excited to be involved.

They started their days off at opposite ends of the city, with Katrine in the Merchant City and Daniel over in Finnieston. It’s great to start photographing a wedding day nice and early as everyone gets comfortable having us around and actually, basically forgets we’re even there – it means we can really blend into the background as the day progresses. After a few whiskies and glasses of fizz were enjoyed at their respective bases it was time to head off to Airdrie for the ceremony.

Daniel’s dad is a minister so it meant he was able to conduct the ceremony in his own church, a really lovely and personal touch! After the nuptials had been said and rings exchanged everyone headed outside to congratulate the newlyweds, and Daniel even had a quick toot on the bagpipes.

Back into Glasgow to the Piping Centre to enjoy the rest of the day and we heard from Katrine’s dad, bridesmaids, Daniel and his best man all about the happy couple as well as the amazing, long connection they have with the Piping Centre and why it was the perfect place to celebrate with their friends and family.

Afterwards we managed to sneak outside to make the best of the beautiful light. Golden hour doesn’t always come out to play in Glasgow, but when it does it’s so amazing for creating wonderful wedding photographs.

All that was left was to dance the night away. So, in keeping with the piping and musical connection, both dads played on stage during Katrine and Daniel’s first dance. Then Daniel had another shot on the pipes while his pals provided the accompanying music as everyone enjoyed a good old ceilidh dance. There’s no better way to enjoy the evening and in such a venue it was very fitting indeed.

Thanks so much for having us along to photography your big day guys, it was an absolute pleasure spending the day with you :)
