Couple: Rebecca + Alan

Venue: Brig 0 Doon

Date:  5th May 2018

We always jump at the chance to photograph a wedding at Brig o Doon, so when we met Rebecca and Alan and they asked us to capture their big day we were naturally delighted.

We started off the day by heading to the Alloway retreat to photograph Rebecca as she was getting ready. It’s such a handy house, just down the road from the hotel and there’s so much space for everyone to relax and have a great time.

As soon as Rebecca was ready it was time for her to arrive at the hotel in style courtesy of the Meek family Darracq TT13, a beautiful old car dating back to 1913 – such a lovely, personal touch to add to the wedding day.

At the hotel, it was time for the main event, the ceremony. Rebecca and Alan had asked humanist, Stuart Rodger, to conduct the proceedings which he did in style. It was a really lovely, personal wedding ceremony, and it’s always really nice for us to hear a little of how couples got together.

After the ceremony, everyone headed outside to the gardens of the Brig o Doon hotel for a glass of fizz and a chance to congratulate the happy couple. We then took advantage of the lovely sunny day to take some group photos down by the river. We even had enough time to sneak off with Alan and Rebecca for a few photos before the speeches.

The speeches are another highlight of a wedding day for us, as similar to the ceremony they allow all of the guests (and us) a glimpse into the history of the couple and what led to us all being there for the special day. A couple of embarrassing stories about the groom are always welcome too :)

We were able to make use of the beautiful light and weather after dinner to get some more stunning photographs of Alan and Rebecca before it was time to hit the dance floor.

Speaking of dancing, the happy couple and all their guests were kept on a packed dance floor all night courtesy of Super Deluxe wedding band who certainly know a thing or two about how to entertain a room!

Thanks again, guys, for inviting us along to photograph and share in your special day with us, he had an amazing time.
